Wow! I made it through WEEK TWO of National Poetry Month with #wonderbreak inspiration from Laura Purdie Salas. I'm doing a little snoopy dance over this because I'm on spring break with three teenagers mixing visits with friends and family and fun things for them to do. We fill our days!
Find the Poetry Friday Round-up with Dori Reads and have some fun. I apologize to poets that I read each week....spring break driving will slow me down. But, I'll visit at some point between now and next Friday.
April 13, 2017 Corning Glass Museum in New York State is worth a trip.

April 12, 2017 -- on the road -- kinda tough to get a poem complete. Haiku will do!

I love that you can find gratitude even on a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteLove the 'greetings, gray', Linda. The rhythm is perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou're off to a great start in week one! I look forward to the rest of the month's offerings.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a blanket of rain is just what the doctor ordered! Nice, Linda. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a fun rhyme. I am fond of my blanket on gray days, too. It has cheery cats all over it.
ReplyDeleteLinda, your poem made me notice that pink graffiti flower on the wall, which I would have missed otherwise!
ReplyDeleteI missed the pink graffiti flower, but I love the idea that one of the girls dressed in black and white thinks of herself as a pink flower getting ready to bloom.
ReplyDeleteEach of these is so good, Linda! I especially like the 'elephant in the room' and it leading to 'our impending doom'. Brava! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful series of poems, each one different, but wonderful in its own way!
ReplyDeleteDitto what Jane said. Linda, I remember last week I had a hard time picking 'one' - and this week, again. They're all wonderful for different reasons.
DeleteWonderful poems. I'm on spring break with my three kids, too! Such fun in store. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your poems, Linda. I love the line "puff of breath" so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have been following your poetry, Linda, with wonder. Great job so far!
ReplyDeleteEach one is a gem, Linda, but I still love that "thank-you blanket" so much. You are a busy woman! Have fun on your break!
ReplyDeleteWonderful little gems of poetry. Enjoy your break, your family, and all your travels.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you are rocking it on the road! And how cleverly you are illustrating everything too--you'll have to tell me how/what tools you're using for your little #wonderbreak postcards. We passed by Corning NY but didn't stop--love The Gaffer "with blowpipe and birthday candle puff of breath" and my favorite is the elephant in the room! Where is that?
ReplyDeleteThe elephant is at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. It's a lovely tour...near some excellent colleges and universities.
DeleteThese are fun to read. Looks like you've been having quite a great time, adventuring and writing about it. :) Gotta love that dinosaur BBQ. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda. I've caught a few of your poems on Twitter, but it's fun to check out the full series. You captured the BBQ in a few short lines. And I love the playfulness of the literal elephant in the room.
