Nurturing Our Summer Souls

There's always far more to do in summer than time to do it in. Still, the top of the list for me is nurturing.

Fortunately, this summer, I am vaccinated and so are my college friends. I was able to visit my college buddies in Rochester, NY for a long weekend of talking and walking, and eating at fun places.

I wanted to get together with my girlfriends...but I didn't realize until we were together how much I needed a get-together with them. It's been a long pandemic.

Truly, my soul was nurtured. We laughed at how we now do things like walk around cemeteries and take photos of flowers as we discuss life's big issues. This is fun for us these days.

It's not revolutionary or miraculous...but our time together is so very nurturing we've already planned next year's get-together. I am grateful for the soul-nurturing medicine friends are.

Thank you, friend Carol for rounding up our Spiritual Thursday posts today at Beyond Literacy.  I am scheduled to host next month. I've chosen respect as our theme.

  1. How we now take pictures of flowers...I laughed because I am trying to decide which picture to put into my post and I have so many flowers! Your friend retreat sounds wonderful!

  2. Linda, when I read that you like to "take photos of flowers as we (friends) discuss life's big issues, I realized that photography is more than an independent pleasure. It can be shared with others to bring camaraderie and fun to any day. We do need friends to deepen our lives because we are social beings. I captured your flower collage and your quote to include in a future Nurturing Our Summer Souls gallery. PS: I look forward to time with you chatting and walking in nature this summer.

  3. Linda, I'm so glad you read about your experience last weekend with your friends, and delighted that it was a soul-nurturing experience. I love the headstones of the women in the photo collage. Do enjoy the rest of your summer!

  4. Hanging out with friends - although we did a lot of it virtually, nothing beats being together in person. Friends know that walking with me includes lots of stops to take pics of flowers! And our time together is indeed nurturing.
It's been a long time since I've walked in a cemetery. I may need to add that to my summer list.
