I bought a Shamrock scarf to wear to school four years ago--and haven't had a chance to wear it. But, today I wear the green! Thank you, Laura Purdie Salas for hosting this week's poetry round-up.
There's another WORD poem over at the word padlet. https://padlet.com/mitchellhubeimom/word-bwfgg0bqmjhf62fd/wish/2519098865
Happy St. Paddy's Day!! Love your poems (I'm married to a leprechaun, and dig the jump jive rhythm of your LUCKY word poem). :) Have fun with the green scarf today!
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Linda! I love the urgency in your sweet poem. Hope you found something lucky and enjoyed the day. And your L.U.C.K.Y. poem is delicious!
That's a really fun poem, Linda. Love the rhymes, especially "shillelagh" and "daily." Shillelagh is just a fun word to say! My second-grade friends were making leprechaun traps yesterday; I hope they were successful.
Hope it's been a lucky day all the day, Linda. Wearing the green is something one grandpa taught me. He was not Irish but so very superstitious. Love the way you've ended each verse & that you have covered all the important things!
I love you poem and the hopeful urgency created with your words. It reminds me of Jack Prelutsky's style! Like Mary Lee, I also forgot to wear green but as I explained to my husband, I used to wear orange - something about being protestant. He thought it was awful - like a protest. But I assured him it wasn't. Where we went to college many moons ago, St. Pat's was a huge deal - we had a school of ceramic engineering of which St. Pat is the patron saint!
Your poem reminds me of the woman I saw while doing a little shopping on Friday rushing into the store and frantically searching for a green shirt, sweater, anything for St. Patrick's Day. Thanks for the fun poem!
Lucky for you, 'inner peas' is your best bet when going green.
ReplyDeleteIrish you a Happy St. Patty's Day, dear Linda! :)

ReplyDelete"Irish enough." I forgot to wear green and didn't even eat potatoes. I guess "Irish enough" for me was in my DNA this year (thank you, Mom's family)!
