Lovely Day in May

Hello Poets,

I have a loved one near and dear to my heart that frequently says, 'It's a lovely day in May.' And, they are right about these few wonderful weeks of spring. I hope you're having a lovely day today...this May.

I have just a couple of little cutie haiku to share:

I also have a new triolet on the padlet...Oh, it's fun to see poems pile up. I feel like I'm not accomplishing much writing these days. But, piled up poems helps me feel better! You?

Thank you, Robyn (haiku master) and author of Life on the Deckle Edge where Poetry Friday is being rounded up today.

  1. All your poems this week are fab. It’s a May celebration. And our twenty six letters deserve a triolet. Happy Mother’s Day. Have a restful weekend.

  2. May is a lovely month and deserves as many poems as we can write in her honor. "Sunny side up" indeed!

  4. We have lots of rain & while it doesn't fit your own May sunshine, it feels like "may is a daisy" for us, Linda! Both are lovely haiku for May!

  5. Little cuties indeed! I love the sunnyside up daisy. :) A little at time, that's exactly how poems pile up...keep going, Linda! xo

  6. I'm going to sing May this month, too! I was just telling some friends that yesterday had to have been in the top ten days of the year so far. So pretty and not too hot.

  9. Well, if this post doesn't cheer a reader up, someone should check their heartbeat. Thank you, Linda, for this and the triolet.
Random, but I was looking at old quotes today for something else, and these words reminded me of said triolet:
How often might a man, after he had jumbled a set of letters in a bag, fling them out upon the ground before they would fall into an exact poem, -- yea, or so much as make a good discourse in prose? .... Tillotson

  10. May has been an odd month for me. When I taught college - I loved it - the end of the semester with a brief break before summer. But when I had kids, May seemed too busy. Now, that my husband and i are empty nesters, I am finally beginning to enjoy all may has to offer! Love your haiku - especially, the first one! It's so cheerful!

  11. Linda, what a cheery May post. I love the "we are young today" and the cute little sunny side up daisy. Precious poems, as is your 26 letters poem on the Padlet. Happy May!

  15. Oh, to be young again. I don't feel I appreciated youth as I should have. Our May is heating up quickly to summer. Thanks for your hopeful haiku.

  16. I love the idea of "piled up poems." And yes to May (except for that pollen that is vexing me--even though I know it's necessary).

  17. Cutie indeed! Clearly yellow is the color of May for you. I like "we are young today," even if not tomorrow! ; )

  18. Linda, the poem for Emily and the bent shell poem! Oh my, what wonders.

  19. Linda, I am sorry that I am so late in responding. I am glad that you shared Jerome Davis' photography. I have followed him but forgot how beautiful his work is. "sunny side up" is so sweet a term to describe a daisy.
