Hello Poets, Hello June!
Molly challenged the inklings to write a color poem. There is no better inspiration for writing for me than Molly's photography.
The photo below with my poem was one Margaret used several weeks ago for 'This Photo Wants to be a Poem." Isn't it beautiful?
June is the word on the Word padlet this week: https://padlet.com/mitchellhubeimom/word-bwfgg0bqmjhf62fd/wish/2611647571

Thank you to The Miss Rumphius Effect for hosting our poetry round-up this week!
I'm glad you brought that poem out of the comment strand for more to see! That pocket watch sun...SWOON!!
ReplyDeleteI love your metaphors in this poem. A pocket watch! I have an old, old pocket watch from the late 1800's that I found in my parents' home. I don't know the story of it. I wish I did.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the pocket watch, too, Linda, & your sweet ending.
ReplyDeleteHooray for white getting to be one of the colors of spring. My alyssum were the second thing to bloom after the cherries and I welcomed those tiny white buds just as much.

DeleteHi Linda! I love the middle stanza to your poem - it matches the photo and carries with it the imagination of the sun as a swinging watch.
ReplyDeleteThat second stanza is utter perfection, Linda.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your poem. Yes to the pocket watch. "Dogwood petals fall as snow" = sigh . . .
ReplyDeleteBeautiful imagery! I love that chain of summer hours. xo
ReplyDeleteLinda, the word choice in the 2nd stanza creates an amazing visual. The photo supports your words. I enjoyed catching up on your padlet also. Countdown to your summer break...
ReplyDeleteYep - had me at pocket watch as well. What beautiful imagery throughout! Love you Inklings and your creativity. :0)
ReplyDeleteI too am glad this one, and your joy-ready heart, get to take center stage! Your essential optimism comes through here; it's a time when it matters to know who the poet is and what's happening with them. Tick tock swinging watch...
ReplyDeleteLinda, I loved reading this again, and this time it brought tears to my eyes. Oh, the beauty of a "joy-ready" heart in this world of sorrows. This is such a poem of quiet celebration and your imagery is perfection.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem from the pocket watch to the joy-ready heart. Your poem is an apt celebration of the beauty of daybreak. Well done.
ReplyDeleteblossom - summer- sorrow --I want to hold those words in my mouth and let them melt.
ReplyDeleteJoy-ready heart, dogwood blossoms, a chain of summer hours - so much to love in your poem!
ReplyDeleteThe pocket watch sun is the best. It's such a lovely image.
ReplyDeleteLove!
