When Life Gives You Lemons 12/8/17

You know when you're hiking with friends that are faster or more experienced than you...and they wait uphill for you to catch up and then move as soon as you do because they've rested (but you haven't)?

That's kinda how December feels for me. Phew! I'm looking forward to Winter Break.

This week, Poetry Friday is hosted by Lisa on her Tumblr blog, Steps & Staircases. Our host asked us to respond to the prompt When life gives you lemons...

Here is my quickly dashed off response with a free pic from pixabay. Maybe I can catch my breath and gather energy from some of my Poetry Friday friends also participating.

  1. Oh, that moment of quiet after chaos, and the feeling that you're going to miss the chaos of children someday. I am there, Linda!

  2. The crumb scattered table so easily brought me to the mood of this. Thank you.

  3. Lovely reflection, Linda. I can sense the relief as well as the yearning.

  4. Wish I was there to sip tea, slowly with you. This is an excellent poem. The ending carries a big punch.

  5. I am feeling that kind of quiet calm on this rare SNOW day in Louisiana! My tea is near. You have gotten quite good at dashing off a poem. I love the analogy of hiking and the month of December. I finally decided to go get a tree and they were practically all gone. It's only the 8th for God's sake!

  6. Such a lovely poem--it captures such a peaceful moment. Here's to a few moments with a cup of tea to catch our breaths this busy month.

  7. Your poem calms me even though I know there's lots of hustle and bustle before I'll ever get to the "quiet and napping" time. But thanks for the moment :-)

  10. Linda, I love what you did with this prompt. Immediately answering "find the cinnamon/and star anise" I am working on gathering the images shared from Poetry Friday and putting them in a separate photo post. I will link back to your post if I am successful. Yes, December is like a long hike! I hope you're catching your breath this weekend, and finding time to enjoy poetic breaks like the one you shared here. Lovely.

  12. Sipping warm things can be so soothing. Thanks for the calm before, or maybe after the storm in your poem and textural image.
