What welcome respite...no matter what else needs to be baked, stamped, mailed, practiced, holiday-ed, remembered.
There are several haiku hashtags this month. Haiku is also welcome respite.

I've been haiku-ing away. The challenge I've given to myself is to stay classic with nature haiku in that crazy don't-have-to-stick-to-it 5-7-5 form.
Here's some that make me happy. Enjoy!

The talented and recently published Liz Steinglass is hosting our round-up today! Slide over for a visit.
How beautiful these are! I'm particularly taken with the second and third - but most especially the hush of silent words on snow. Stunning. (And I have a spread from Liz's new book on my blog. I may have you, too...🙃)
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful haiku, Linda. I found this one to be especially poignant:

Steep the hill we climb to Christmas. My feet are tired and slowing. Thanks for your sweet respite.
ReplyDeleteI love the sleigh on silent runners and the steep hill home. Lovely.
ReplyDeletethat sleigh on silent runners! Love! And go, you, with the true-haiku commitment... those are SO TOUGH but when they work -- ahhhhh. Respite and wonder! xo
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you've been sharing on twitter, but if so, I've missed them! I love that final one, Linda, "snow would not protest"! Those words cling to the events of today for me. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou've captured some beautiful moments in your haiku, Linda! Third one is probably my fave . . . :)
ReplyDeleteYour haiku magic has me in a reflective state, Linda. The one on heaven's footpath has me recalling five friends who passed on this year. In a crazy world of discord, I want to step back and find peace that is why the haiku writing is so healing on a personal level. Writing late autumn/winter poems are therapeutic so thanks for keeps writing.
ReplyDeleteI love these haiku, Linda, especially the steep the hill to home one. It has me thinking of the many connotations of "home." ❤
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your lovely haiku!
ReplyDeleteYour haiku are lovely. The third one is my favorite. I hope you will submit it to a magazine or anthology.
ReplyDeleteYour haiku are beautiful, Linda. The third one is especially lovely. Kudos to you for your haiku efforts and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThese make me happy, too, Linda. I've enjoyed all the haiku this month. They are indeed moments of respite.
ReplyDeleteI so love that you used one of Molly's stunning photos for inspiration. Two gifted artists working together, side by side. Bravo! -- Christie @ https://wonderingandwondering.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteYES to the respite of Poetry Friday!
ReplyDeleteLove your haiku so much, Linda! You are making the magic happen ❄
ReplyDeletePoetry Friday does indeed offer weekly respite! :) Love these beautiful haiku, Linda. I love them all, but especially appreciate the pairing of pairing of "frosty" with Molly's photo. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteDo I hear some political undertones in the "frosty" haiku, or perhaps I'm reading into it… Rich collection Linda, thanks!
