Closing Out Clunkers

 Hello Poets!

It's been fun playing with your donated clunker lines. I think I've gotten to all the clunkers dropped off at the shop on June 24th. I've got ink all over my fingers and a spot on my chin. But, there's a smile on my face.

The first line, 'The forest was assuming control’ is from Alan Wright. I've been itching to try a zentangle poem. This was perfect for it.

The next line is from Sara Lewis

Love portrait and love the world. “Adorable Little Toddler Girl or Infant Baby Drink Water after Eat...” IStock, www.istockphoto.com/photo/adorable-little-toddler-girl-or-infant-baby-drink-water-after-eat-delicious-gm1257039551-368254068.

The last two lines are from Michelle Kogan and Denise Krebs in a double golden shovel...which I learned more about from Kim Johnson in this past week's prompts from Ethical ELA. Here is her nifty youtube video on double, triple and quadruple golden shovels: https://youtu.be/XEKR5pYlLl0.

Original Lines

  • Vast as the unseen seas bottom Michelle Kogan
  • Sunshine kisses on sea brows/ Cooling fresh on a hot day— Denise Krebs

Sunshine lavishes vast

kisses on shushing waves as

on a sandy beach.  This

sea raises unseen

brows. Oh, the sea…the sea

  1. Oh my! Double, triple quadruple treat today, Linda. Loving your zentangle art (Why am I not surprised. I've got one of your so-creative journals!) Your pasta poem perfection - and your double golden shovel. How fabulous! Your poetry is a sunshine and sea kiss.

  2. Linda, what a joy I have had here today reading all these delights. I've been spending some time with Hamish, the young man, and the Dinka naming ceremony. Thot photo is so striking, and Hamish's golden shovel is perfect. (I had the link in my history, but I don't think you added it here yet.)

I love how you took the forms you've been wanting to use and wrote them with your clunker collection. The artwork on the zentangle is showing how in control the assuming forest is. The fullness and colors are beautiful and rich. Thank you for the beautiful double golden shovel! And for sharing Kim's video. What a challenge that was. I'm honored to be wrapped up in a poem with you and Michelle.

  5. I'm swooning over your zentangle. Why did I never think to add color? I already sent out my art cards (see my post today), but the next ones I do, bring out the colored markers! I love your double golden shovel. I tried one in my notebook but got stuck and quit.

  6. Your zentangle is gorgeous! I love all the polkadots, and how your tangling matches your poem -- there is a forest overtaking the boundaries of the page! And good onya for doing a double golden shovel. That's on my to-do list to try!

  8. Linda, Hamish has been busy lately. This week's artwork is beautiful as is your zentangle poem. I am ready to try an intricate design like yours but I think it takes a great deal of patience. I enjoyed how you designed a heart next to the word control. A double Golden Shovel-never heard of it before and it is intriguing. A single is hard enough so congratulations on your poem. I captured it for my Nurturing Our Summer Souls collection.
