It's the end of the school year....which feels like a hyped up version of the time between Thanksgiving and New Years. Between all the duties to attend to at the school where I work and all the events to attend for my own children, my writing time has come to a standstill. This always makes me grouchy.....which accounts for the haiku venting below.
For a much more positive and enlightened Poetry Friday....stop by Margaret Simon's Reflections on the Teche. She inspires me with her words on a daily basis. And, is a good cure for grouchy!

Okay -- haiku number six is perfection. I haven't been a classroom teacher in many years and I think I still do this! Good luck with closing out this school year, Linda.
ReplyDeleteTeacher looks, love it! I have a mommy look I give inappropriate kids. Especially when my daughter is with me. One high spirited gang of Mercutios actually apologized (for their language). LOL I know just what you mean. We are an important force in the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you and all the teachers, coaches, librarians and administrators, who somehow keep it all together for our kids, who need that calm sanctuary.
So true, Linda. I feel ya! I have been a bit cranky, but your haiku has brightened me. I am starting that bucket list today...after I take a long nap!
ReplyDelete"Leave no trace or trail" -- :-) Good luck with that! We still have a few weeks to go...
ReplyDeleteYes to haiku #5, Linda! And hee-hee for #6 - once a teacher, always a teacher - even in summer. =)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer! I enjoyed your haiku. This is the first year we have not been caught up in the end of the year crush. I left teaching three years ago, and my daughter graduated last year, but I remember well.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to find the time to vent in these cool poems, Linda (and I love the blackboard presentation). :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with wrapping up another school year and have a good summer!
I can think of much worse ways to vent than through haiku, Linda! Hang in there... I've been known to give those teacher looks from time to time, and I'm not even certified to do so. ;)
ReplyDeleteThese poems have attitude - with a twinkle!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of haiku venting! And I especially love #5 and #6! Ohh...those teacher looks!
ReplyDeleteHa! Teacher looks... you know, those NEVER stop even after retirement! Thanks for the smiles!
ReplyDeleteThese are so funny. I can laugh now that school is out. I was this grumpy last week. The end of school brings out the worst in teachers. Your summer bucket list is like mine. Yay! (and thanks for the sweet shout out.)
ReplyDeleteHA! Oh, I am always giving my "I am not amused" librarian look - it's not as effective as a teacher look, but I'm working on it! :-D
ReplyDeleteI feel your grouch, but I've sailed away from the iceberg. Yes, I still need to click a few buttons to make electronic report cards ready, but for all practical purposes, I've put 16-17 behind me! AHHHHhhhhh....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer! I'm green with envy.
