It's My Birthday!

Hello Friends,

I'm so glad I get to share poetry with you on my birthday! At my age, it's at least as good as cake or ice cream.

Happy Birthday to my birthday twins (you know who you are)It's fun getting to share today with you.

The word for padlet today is twin. I'm keeping up with ekphrastic poetry about fine art I viewed this summer that had words embedded in the art. The artwork that this poem is inspired by Rosemari Bernardi's photograph. She's inspired to capture images of antiquated medical specimens. She calls these fragile jars "poetry of forgotten spaces."

Thank you, Tabatha, https://tabathayeatts.blogspot.com/he Opposite of Indifference for hosting the round-up this week.

  2. Happy, happy birthday, Linda. I love the "all these candles bright" -- a celebration of "at my age" I think. Rosemari Bernardi's photo of the twins is haunting. Your poem gives tribute and an actual poem to her "poetry of forgotten spaces."

  9. Linda, Happy Birthday my friend. I hope your candles always burn bright to keep your poetry coming, day or night. The poem you wrote on your padlet based on Bernardi's photo takes me back to college years in the biology studio. It is hauntingly rich in word choice and an amazing poem of forgotten spaces. Your mind is digging deeply into the intricacies of art combined with poetry. I am off now to find out more about this photographer's backgroumd.

    1. It is interesting that I cannot find information about Bernardi's background or photography. I am curious. Do you have a link?

    2. I think I led everyone to think that photography is her main thing--she is a printmaker. Find her work here: https://rosemariebernardi.com/statement

  12. What a fun birthday poem! I love that we share our special day, but I've never liked having a bday the first week of school. This year I celebrated with a sound bath healing session. Just what I needed!
