Hello Poets,
Here's a clunker for you: What good is a gnome?
This line was served up to me by our lovely hostess, Jan GA at Bookseeds Studio. See her post, Gnomenclature. I took her clunker and turned it into this little ditty below. With apologies to Dr. William M. Higley author of the lyrics to Home on the Range.
What Good is a Gnome? Oh, give me a home where some poetry roams we can read, write and craft all day Where blue skies and birds bring encouraging words and my garden is lush, green and not just a cliche
Oh, for a gnome at my home To keep bad spirits away To look over the hedge everything from the fence to lawn's edge — and bring peace to my loved ones all day.
an oh, so tongue in cheek Linda M.
Make sure you hop on over to Bookseeds Studio for some poetry goodness. Jan is offering some good and needed words on resilience.

May I come visit you at that home? It sounds delightful! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful Linda, you are such a fab researcher. Your Gnomie appears to be reading a hand-made journal - or maybe you made the tiny treasure & put it in such good hands? There is totally Gnome place else, like A Word Edgewise. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love your gnome-ish poem and the warm, welcoming, creative space you're imagining with him on duty at the hedge. I also love that you're taking time to be with loved ones instead of "getting stuff done." Enjoy every moment!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! I love that you wrote with music in your head, just like I did this week!
ReplyDeleteOh give me your home where poetry and gnomes roam and bring peace all day! Love where you went with this, Linda.
ReplyDeleteDelightful, Linda! You de-clunked it big time! :D
ReplyDeleteAh what fun, a ditty Gnome put to music, lovely, thanks Linda!
ReplyDeleteSo fun!!! What a great way to play with a clunker.
