Summer Swap Finale

Happy Poetry Friday,

I think I might have mentioned how much I have enjoyed this summer's poem swap. It's really nice to get to know poetry people through their writing.

I have two beautiful swaps share.

First, Karen Edminsten sent this, sunny, sandy poem. I received it on a day my children had gone off to visit their grandparents for a week and I was just a touch blue in my quiet house. But,  this gem was in my mailbox and I smiled. Thank you, Karen.

Later in the week, I opened a package from Tara Smith that contained a delightful little book titled Chrysanthemums.  Even better? it was published in 1903. Oh, do I love an antique book...and this one is stunning. The paper, the pages, the photographs from a bygone era. I have so enjoyed paging through this little beauty.

Moore, N. Hudson. Chrysanthemums, Frederick A. Stokes Co. New York. 1903. print.

Have fun making Poetry Rounds today. Margaret Simon is hosting our round-up at Reflections on the Teche. Thank you, Margaret.

  6. Linda, you have two gems here. Isn't it so exciting to have special packages coming in during the summer. I get excited every time I receive one. Today, I am showcasing my 2nd poem swap and next week, I will share my third. Linda Baie gave me an antique book of poems last year for the swap and I just adore it. There is something about how the books were put together and the content that makes an antique book special.

  12. Wearing flip-flops is one of the things I love most about summer, and Karen's word play with those words is so clever. What a beautiful book Tara found for you. That cover is so inviting! Thank you for sharing your gifts with us!

  14. Glorious gifts, Linda - thanks for sharing. That "castle flops" cracks me up(!) - :0) - and the Chrysanthemums book is gorgeous. Love that poem, too - I always treasure finding a pressed flower in an old, old book & imagining the story behind it....
