Poetry Play -- little ditties

Good Friday Poets,

I'm back from a quick visit to my daughters at their universities. Both are doing well in their studies and lives and I am as happy for them as I miss both being at home with me. My son was a great travel buddy...and is also considering where he will be studying as a freshman next year -- a win-win. Woot!

Carol at Beyond Literacy hosts our poetry round-up this week. Stop by for a full dose of poetry and her extra special touches of kindness, creativity and inspiration.

One of my favorite places for poetry inspiration is animal pics on twitter.

Come play!

  1. I love how you find inspiration all around you, Linda! These pictures and your poetic responses are fabulous. I have a major soft spot for those stacked fennec foxes and the mythic feel of your "Incantation" is wonderful.

  2. Linda, you have a keen eye for finding interesting Twitter tweets about animals. I like the one about foxes, is your poem part of Catherine’s box challenge?

  3. Nice variety of subjects and poetic "feels"! I especially love Sheeda's spin[ner]et play. I'm sorry I missed your post about Luca's Bridge--perfect pairing. How do you know the author?

  4. These are all such fun, Linda! I love the playfulness of the fennec foxes! Writing from images, photos or paintings/drawings, has always been a favorite way for me to begin writing. Have you heard about Ralph Fletcher's new book, FOCUS LESSONS: HOW PHOTOGRAPHY ENHANCES THE TEACHING OF WRITING? It sounds like a must have!

  5. Such beautiful photos you chose! Wonderful inspiration.
The stacking rhythm of the fox poem goes well with the subject matter, and the title for the raven poem sets the scene perfectly. I got a kick out of "silk roads to dinner" :-)

  6. Oh my, these are wonderful, just right for each marvelous picture. I love ravens, spent as much time as I could with the ravens at Yellowstone, and love "Incantation", 'rune of sky. . .' & have so many busy spiders with their spinning this time of year, shining in the sun. Those foxes 'stacking', hilarious. Thanks, Linda, & I was happy to see Catherine telling about Fletcher's book coming out!

  10. I'm charmed by all these Linda, but especially your poem about the fennec foxes. Ravens are a magical animal and you have caught that in Incantation.

  11. Yes, talk about fun! Those foxes have stolen my heart, Linda. Your poem could be a Dr. Seuss sequel!
