Take Heart - Spiritual Thursday

Friends,

Take heart...isn't that a wonderful exhortation? I know it from the Bible. But, it's a phrase that is broader than biblical times or, religious texts. Thanks to Fran at her blog, Lit Bits, and Pieces, for inviting us to take heart this month.

This week, I've been making Valentine's cards from recycled book pages and assorted other papers. Paper hearts are easy and thinking about loved ones I'll send them to makes me happy for the connections I have with dear ones.

Take a heart...with love and prayers for you and yours from me today.

I take heart too, from cards sent over the past year to a dear one that passed away a week ago from pancreatic cancer. We had been separated by circumstances beyond our control. But, when I heard of the illness, I decided to send a card and a note once a month. I didn't know I'd only send a year's worth. I'm terribly sad to have lost this loved one...but I take heart that my last card was made with blues and a story about a connection we both had to blue.

A last card made & sent...blues. I take heart that we shared this blue

Take another heart...why not?

  5. Valentines are so much fun to make, even when they are a struggle! I struggled with mine (I made some gnome cards) but the paper was cute and it was gratifying when I was done. Yours are so sweet.
My condolences on the loss of your dear one. Your cards must have been treasured. xo

  6. Linda, it is so difficult to lose someone dear to you. Your blue card is not only endearing but it will bring back many beautiful memories to you. I look forward to learning more about paper collage from you. I cherish the bookmark you sent me. Your take on Take Heart is full of beauty and kindness. Each V card is unique. Thanks for sharing these lovely packages of sentiment and sweet thoughts. Your paper collage trail is leaving quite an impression on me and I am sure on many others.

  7. I'm crossing fingers I am on your card list. I have done the act of writing letters to loved ones who are sick. Some have moved into recovery, but some I've lost. It does not diminish the work, however, and I will continue to take heart and reach out. I think we are kindred spirits in this work.
