Happy June to You,
If you haven't checked out Reflections on the Teche lately, have a peek. Margaret has been creating and sharing lots of beautiful writing and opportunities to share among friends.
She responded to our SWAGGER prompt that hit a glitch--mostly from the tired brains of teachers at the end of the year. I responded to the prompt here:
I enjoy the This Photo Wants to be a Poem prompt on Wednesdays. In fact, that's where my poems today sprang from.

This week, Hamish and I collaborated on a mindful poem of affirmations after A Center by Ha Jin. It's on his padlet...which is halfway through a year of a poem-a-week centered on the theme of ox. Way to go, Hamish!
They are such stunning photos each week. I like the playing of the word with dragon. And the line, "This poem is a sunrise."
ReplyDeleteI love the dragonfly poem, Linda. That photo is amazing! And I've been loving the light so much this week. After our rainy days last weekend, I'm looking out my windows & loving the slant of the sun early morning, the brightness at noon, the easy way it seems to go. Thanks for your own 'breakfast light'!
ReplyDeleteI hold quiet is a beautiful line, Linda. Sweet delicious light is another stunning image as are the nature photos. I see that you really enjoyed your writing time this week.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I also mentioned Margaret's Wednesday challenge in my post today. I'm proud to be on your poetic wavelength. ;) I love the playfulness of the dragon with flutter, and Dragon F L Y! And the sweet delicious breakfast of a sunrise is evocative and lovely--makes me want to be sitting in the grass at the teche enjoying it with you.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful prompts! I love how contemplative and mindful the first poem is, and the energy and playfulness of the dragonfly poem is delightful!
ReplyDeleteA lovely pair, Linda. I especially loved the playfulness of dragonfly. Very clever!
ReplyDeleteYour dragonfly wordplay is so fun. Thanks for sharing your poems and This Photo.
ReplyDeleteLove both poems, Linda, but you really 'spread your wings' with the 'Fluttering dragonfly'. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so much fun! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove your poetic responses, Linda. That "sweet delicious light" so beautifully complements the sunrise photo, and I enjoyed your dragonfly wordplay. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the word play in your dragonfly poem! I'm having fun with the Wednesday prompts also.
ReplyDeleteLovely poems for June. I love the metaphor in your first, with sunrise as a poem, "it's last line lingering over breakfast/".
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me with your ability to effortlessly (seems like it!) fling these gems out. Your nest poem this week should be included in this set!
ReplyDelete"This poem is a sunrise" made me smile and think of other poems that have a bit of sunrise in them.
ReplyDeleteI love the "sweet delicious light" you found in Margaret's photo. And your dragonfly word play is so much fun! Well done, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThe chief ingredient in composing ekphrastic poems is to be open to possibility. We must see it and be as one with the image, the form. Your poems demonstrate your capacity to achieve this important state of mind. Bravo Linda.
ReplyDeleteWow, a half a year! I'm so impressed by this "oxtra" project you have managed to maintain. Your OLW choice was so brave and has been so fruitful!
ReplyDeleteSuch evocative photos and poems, Linda!
ReplyDeleteI love the "breakfast of/sweet delicious light" and how you play with words in the dragonfly poem.
