July 29...The Last Friday

Hello Poets,

I am away from my writing table and in one of my favorite places -- visiting family. I return home Sunday and set my alarm for Monday morning--time to report to work. There are hundreds of rising sixth graders ready to learn about their new school. Wheeeee!

In the meantime, here is haiku inspired by this amazing pic posted on Twitter. I've also added to Star's padlet. https://padlet.com/mitchellhubeimom/4bzbfu2cg5k7awk5

I'll catch up with responses as I can -- possibly from an airport gate. Thanks for reading, and for responding and keeping poetry alive over this summer.

Finally, thanks to https://www.marcieatkins.com/  for hosting our round-up this week. I cannot tell you the number of poets and writers I have referred to her website for writing tips and support. She's kind of amazing!

  1. This is gorgeous -- the wing, the words, especially the idea of this being a "transparent cathedral pane."

Wow, the school year has suddenly just... arrived for so many! We're a few weeks away yet here - but wow, where did this summer go!? May you have an uplifting year.

  6. Linda, the photo is a work of art and to think it is a work of nature. Your poems capture the content so beautifully. Your star poem spins its own tale: Daughters can also be heroic. Enjoy your weekend. School starts??? My granddaughter starts K on the 22nd.

  9. Linda, I'm glad you got to spend your last summer hours with family. Blessings with those new sixth graders. Those haiku are gorgeous and the photo that inspired them. I love thinking of a glazier working on those cathedral windows. Beautiful.

  10. That photo is absolutely stunning and your accompanying haiku are lovely, too--I am especially partial to the cathedral pane imagery. I hope you've enjoyed your visiting and are off to a wonderful start--though my mind boggles at how AUGUST 1st can be a start date!
