Hello Friends,
I
have made
it to spring
break...thank you, God.
As we begin April and all the festivities, I'm headed out on the road for a much-needed rest and to spend time with my beloved family.
This past week I spent more time playing with syllables and words to write etherees that don't look like they simply fit the form.

Oh, Linda! Happy spring break. What a sweet etheree that you wrote about the rain. "tambourining a steady rhythm" and "umbrellas bloom" are really appealing to my senses. That last line is priceless. In this terrible storm, the best place to be is watching from inside one's home. Have a wonderful time traveling and visiting family this week!

ReplyDeleteI love the musicality of your poem -- booming rock-and-roll with a tambourining rhythm. We've got rain again today, but it's a quiet, drippy, chocolate-chip-cookie-scented kind of day. :-) I'm wishing rest and rejuvenation for you this week!
ReplyDeleteI love this, Linda! I love storms, and I love that you're working on making your etheree look and sound like it naturally falls into those counted-syllable lines. NOT like you took a poem and just broke the lines where needed for the syllable count. Hooray! And--tambourining--yes! Have a lovely escape.

ReplyDeleteLinda, I know you have been through the wringer, "wipers madly swinging side to side," and that you can make a sunlight collage and write not one but two etherees and show up for meetings--you just astound me. May you fall back into your break and,"tambourining a steady rhythm," find some grounding for the challenges ahead, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you've reached a time for rest and recuperation. I was so sad not to catch up this past week. I love your etheree and its companion photo(s). You are a master at combining the two. I also appreciate that you can write about the mad chaos of those wipers and still capture and celebrate the wonder of a storm.
