Hello Poets,
I continue to delight in May...even the rain showers are welcomed treats. I just love falling asleep to the sound of rain and a little thunder. It reminds me that the world can still refresh itself.
This week, I've journaling to prompts from Georgia Heard's small poems prompts, May Permissions to Write Small. It's been pretty fun. I've grown some long poems, small poems and some just-right poems. Below is a draft of a poem in response to 5/7 What the Moon Might Say.

Moon Defines Exuberance
A getaway giggle.
An effervescent gasp –¡mirar!
barefoot-tip-toe running to windows, doors, beloveds. Look!
that eye down below, surrounded by night
doesn’t simply look up but sees me–
has asked me to dance after I’ve flowered this wall so long.
My joy is a buoyant bobber floating
on a pond full happy hungry goldfish.
I’m ready to kick up my heels over a nibble,
a bite a gulp from below.
Exuberance is enthusiasm so vivacious, so bright, I cannot contain it within myself.

ReplyDeleteLinda, your poem of lifting Light is as luminous, as the fullness of the moon glow image. Each line is a favorite but "A getaway giggle" is especially a kick. And like you, gentle Georgia Heard is my go-to for so much of my poetry path.
