It was 100 degrees hot...for my son's graduation ceremony, outside, on the track behind the High School. It was a sweet ceremony all the same and I so appreciate the efforts of our high school faculty to make a special moment for our seniors.
Thank you to Margaret for hosting Poetry Friday this week at Reflections on the Teche. She asks us to respond to this question: What is poetry?
I have more refurbished clunkers to share. Thanks to poets that played along. You gave me some giggles this week and they are so appreciated.

You are on a roll with these! I love the interpretation of the Tina Fey image. Reading it aloud, I imagine that little girl sweetly asking, "Can I keep it" among the roar of What!?.
ReplyDeleteI love how you take these clunkers and run with them! I think my favorite is the acorn one, but the others are great fun. What's with you and teeth these days anyway? lol (remembering last week's shark teeth...)
ReplyDeleteLinda, I feel like I've sampled a buffet of wit, mischief, and true appreciation with your "refurbished clunkers." And yeah, it's brutally hot here, too, these days- congratulations on your son's graduation AND your endurance! Thank you for your spirit and the smiles.

That worm waving a tooth seems like a picture book waiting to happen. Whew, an 100 degree graduation sounds like a stamina-challenger. You need a passel of shade trees to deal with that kind of weather. Congrats on another successful round of refurbished clunkers!
ReplyDeleteSuch great, imaginative refurbishing, Linda! Love the acorn one especially. xo
ReplyDeleteThese are so clever, Linda! I love them all, but am especially fond of "sunbeams find[ing] their way."
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy and I particularly like your last one, the golden shovel and the questions you chose for MOM? Let no word or line be wasted!
ReplyDeleteWell played! Honored to have my clunker put to such brilliant use!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on taking my unfinished thought and making it into something I never would have thought of. Congratulations to your graduate and keep cool, Linda. I am so excited to be your neighbor. Gainesville, here I come this fall!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the crabgrass and acorn ones especially, Linda! So clever how you're doing this.
ReplyDeleteOh, that crabgrass poem is for my husband. It's his garden nemesis!
ReplyDeleteBreathing new life into words is a worthy pursuit Linda and you have done it with panache! You employed different poetry forms to present your magical reimagining of the various contributions.
ReplyDeleteI love your refurbished clunkers! My favorite line is "someday a forest" But I also like the image of a giggling word--and I can certainly relate to crabgrass, although in my yard, the bindweed is winning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing some smiles and laughter with us–still smiling now! I love the acorn one too, calming and normalness, perhaps it's out there somewhere… Thanks Linda!
