Trick-or-Treat! It's sooooooo close to Halloween and I've already eaten my candy quota!
Are you ready? Do you have a spunky or spooky poem? This one was sparked by artwork featured on Jama's "Nine Cool Things on a Tuesday," post from October 4th.

Thank you, Jone for hosting today's Poetry Friday round-up with publication news!
Linda, Halloween is one of my favorite events and you share a furry special howl-o-ween party. I enjoyed the last two lines of this poem. I also really liked your incantation with its great ending lines. The pictures by Mary Lee were beautiful nature shots and a great backdrop for your poem.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite holidays, too, Linda. There are many front yards in my neighborhood and beyond so, so decorated and ready! I love your "Count Drool-cula"!
ReplyDeleteSmidgey enthusiastically accepts! (She'll be a pumpkin this year without the cat. She is a seedy pup you know!) Your invitation poem captures this photo perfectly - a true howl-ween event! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your Howl-o-ween party invitation! I don't dress up Charlie anymore because he hates it. I had great success this week using these art images from Jama's blog to prompt Halloween stories.
ReplyDeleteA dog with a mermaid tail sure is a new image for me. Can't say he's too scary though.:) Love the growl-ghost and orange owl, too! Clever word play. Happy Halloween, Linda!
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun! I accept your kind invitation. Love the clever wordplay, esp. drool-cula :D! I'm assuming furry bears are also invited -- even though they growl instead of howl . . . and thanks for the enchanting starry poem. This post puts me in a great Halloween mood. :) ~ Jama
ReplyDeleteOh, FUN! I loved this image when I first saw it, and you gave it even brighter life. It didn't even occur to me that she was just sitting with animals; I was entranced by her beak and that SHE was masquerading as an animal of her own. This is excellent.
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda! What a fun poem! You should send this to a children's magazine!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't noticed the flapper hound until you mentioned it... hilarious! Thanks for this fun invitation poem. I want to know about the witch's green nose. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove dogs immersed in all things human :) -- and "an orange owl..."
ReplyDeleteBuster will be there. I love the invitation and the repeating line.
ReplyDeleteSpooktacular poem, Linda! Love the flapper hound. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Howl-oween!
