December 30 BOX

Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year! And, thank you to Patricia who is graciously hosting our round-up today at Reverie.

The Poetry Sisters (#PoetryPals) December inspiration challenge is BOX

My response:

A final star poem closes out the year on Star's padlet. Thank you for being a part of her journey. https://padlet.com/mitchellhubeimom/4bzbfu2cg5k7awk5/wish/2428647856

Wherever you are and whatever traditions you follow, I hope you have some winter time to rest and enjoy family--including our Poetry Friday family. We all need that!

  1. I hope that 2023 brings everyone at least one box of stars! Love the poem.

  2. I love your last star poem, Linda, so bittersweet. I remember the little cardboard boxes of stars I'd see on teacher's desks or when I took my kids to piano lessons. So many in that little box!

  3. What a dazzling shooting star poem finale, thanks for star-dusting us all year long Linda! ⭐️ and what a star-studded beautiful "Star Lesson," thanks!

  4. I'll always think of those boxes of stars that I hoped would end up on my grade school papers - with such affection! But I love the image of boxes of stars in the sky as popcorn for planets! More ideas for my star word bank! Happy New Year, Linda!

  5. What a fun list poem, Linda! You're a star yourself, always shining the light so brightly for poetry, for kids, for celebrating everyone's worth. Thanks for being you!

  6. So lovely!! You probably already know the picture book Stars by Mary Lyn Ray but this reminded me of that :)

  7. What a starry year you've had, and what a double ending, with Star's last (sob!) poem on the padlet and this lovely box of stars! Happy New Year! Can't wait to see what word you've chosen for 2023!

  8. Linda, thank you for your final star poem that shares the plentitude of stars. I especially like that stars can be popcorn for planets. I enjoyed Star's journey this year and look forward to next year's padlet "star".

  9. OF COURSE you would write about a box of stars! Love love love. How you shine, dear Linda! xo

  10. I love the variety of options you've included in your "many shiny, good things" as well as their vivid descriptions. Hooray for you!

  11. How perfect to fill your own box poem with stars, Linda, ending the year with many bright things! Happy New Year!

  12. Ooh, bedazzled tidal pools! I wouldn't have thought that the spiny sea star would work in this poem about corsages and things, but it fits right into its own little firmament. Hooray for us, indeed!

  13. Hi, Linda, and Happy New Year. I like your box poem - for both its imagination and literal-ness. I especially like the last four line stanza about stickers and papers marked A++. I used to love getting a really great grade on a paper. And a sticker (most often received in 8th grade science) was the best! Thank you for all your wonderful support over the last year! I appreciate your kindness and generosity of spirit! ~ Carol, at The Apples in My Orchard ~

  14. It's just perfect that you wrote about a box of stars. Way to grab the prompt and run with it---or maybe sparkle? I also love star's final poem on the padlet. So lovely. I hope you've enjoyed some rest and enjoyed time with family. Happy New Year!

  15. Every version of that box of stars is sparkly wonderful, especially "popcorn for planets"! You really know how to work a thing, Linda--coming to Star's end reminds me of how sad it was to bid farewell to Ox. Was that really a whole year ago? Maybe I should try this approach...what do you think?

  16. I love how each of you came at the same idea of BOX in such different ways. I love thinking about a box of stars. Happy New Year!

  17. Happy new year, Linda! Visiting the spiny-skinned creatures bedazzling tidal pools -- I'm putting that on my bucket list for 2023.
